Highlights
Free access to Stanley Park’s public areas: seawall, trails, beaches, viewpoints, gardens, and landmark spots.
About this experience
Stanley Park is Vancouver’s iconic “nature-inside-the-city” flex: a massive peninsula of forest, beaches, viewpoints, and landmarks right beside downtown. The main event is the Seawall loop for skyline + ocean views, but the real cheat code is dipping into the quieter forest trails when the Seawall gets crowded.
What's included
- Free access to Stanley Park’s public areas: seawall, trails, beaches, viewpoints, gardens, and landmark spots.
- The Seawall loop around Stanley Park (posted as a 10 km / 13,123-step loop).
- Forest trails offering more than 27 km of quieter walking routes.
- Key “must-see” stops like monuments, gardens, and First Nations totem poles (all within the park).
- NOT included: paid parking (if you drive), food/drinks, rentals, or any optional paid activities inside/near the park.
Who it's for
- Perfect for first-timers in Vancouver (it’s basically the city's highlight reel in one place).
- Great for families, couples, solo travelers, and anyone who wants a flexible “do it at your pace” day.
- Works for most fitness levels: you can keep it easy (short Seawall segments) or go long (full loop + trails).
- Less ideal if you want zero crowds — peak summer weekends can be busy on the Seawall.
What you'll do
- Start with the Seawall for the big views (harbour, mountains, and downtown skyline).
- Do a full loop if you’re feeling ambitious, or just walk/cycle the best sections and stop at viewpoints.
- Detour into the forest: the trail network is your “escape hatch” from the busy perimeter paths.
- Hit the iconic landmarks and totem poles for the classic Stanley Park checklist photos.
Before you go
- Tickets / price (starts from): 0 CAD (Stanley Park is free to enter and explore).
- Park hours: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (unless otherwise posted).
- Washrooms: available, generally from dawn until dusk (varies by location/season).
- Parking: paid parking is available and managed by EasyPark; daily passes can be used for any lot/space in Stanley Park. Overnight parking is not allowed in Vancouver parks.
Good to know
- Time needed: 2—3 hours to walk the 9 km Seawall portion around Stanley Park, or about 1 hour to cycle it (good baseline if you’re planning the day).
- Best timing: mornings for fewer crowds; late afternoon for softer light and sunsets.
- If you’re short on time: do a Seawall segment + a landmark stop (totem poles/gardens) and you’ll still feel like you “did” Stanley Park.
Why this is worth it
Stanley Park is a free Vancouver essential: do the Seawall (10 km loop) for the views, dip into 27+ km of forest trails to escape the crowd, and hit the totem poles + landmarks for the classic highlights.
