Acropolis of Lindos

Rising directly above the whitewashed village on Rhodes’ east coast, the Acropolis of Lindos is a fortified clifftop complex with ancient temples, Hellenistic walls and medieval battlements looking out over Lindos Bay and St Paul’s Bay.

• Standard entry ticket to the Acropolis of Lindos archaeological site, including the monumental staircase, ancient sanctuary remains, Hellenistic stoa and the ruins of the Temple of Athena Lindia.
• Access to the upper terraces and viewpoints on the rock, with sweeping views over the Aegean and the bays on either side of Lindos.

• Walk through the pedestrian lanes of Lindos village to the base of the acropolis rock, then follow the stepped path up to the entrance gate.
• Buy or scan your ticket at the booth, then pass through the medieval gateway and climb the wide staircase to the main terrace.
• Explore the Hellenistic stoa, temple platform and other ruins, stopping at viewpoints over Lindos village, Lindos Beach and St Paul’s Bay.
• Take photos, read the information panels and move carefully around the upper levels before descending the same way back into the village.

• Tickets / price (starts from): entry to the Acropolis of Lindos is via a paid archaeological-site ticket; recent pricing puts the full adult ticket at around 16 EUR in season, with reduced and free categories on proof of eligibility. Treat 16 EUR as a realistic “starts from” baseline for planning.
• Opening hours: typical summer hours are roughly 08:00—19:00, with shorter hours in winter (often around 08:00—15:30/16:00). Last entry is usually about 30 minutes before closing and hours can change between seasons.
• Weather and closures: in extreme heat or bad weather, access may be restricted or temporarily closed for safety.
• Site rules: you must stay on marked paths and not climb on walls, columns or fences. Drones, smoking, removing stones and damaging vegetation are forbidden and can lead to fines.

• Location: the acropolis stands directly above the village of Lindos on Rhodes’ east coast, about 45—50 km south of Rhodes Town.
• Getting there: most visitors reach Lindos by KTEL bus, excursion coach, taxi or rental car, then walk from the drop-off/parking area through the village to the start of the path.
• Time needed: allow 1.5—2 hours for the acropolis itself, plus extra time in the village below.
• Practical tips: wear good shoes with grip — many stones are smooth and slippery — bring water and sun protection, and avoid the steepest heat by visiting early morning or late afternoon.
