Victoria Peak (The Peak)

Hong Kong’s classic viewpoint: Victoria Peak — usually just called “The Peak” — rises to about 552 m, the highest point on Hong Kong Island, with views over Central, Victoria Harbour and outlying islands. You ride the historic Peak Tram up a super-steep slope, then step out into malls, viewing decks and an easy loop walk with skyline shots from every angle. Plan 2—3 hours minimum; longer if you hang for sunset or do the full trail.

• A standard visitor setup built around the Peak Tram + Sky Terrace 428 combo: return Peak Tram ride from Garden Road to The Peak plus access to Sky Terrace 428, the open-air observation deck on top of Peak Tower.
• Free access to the public areas of Peak Tower, Peak Galleria and nearby parks/viewpoints, plus the circular walking paths (like Lugard Road) for extra skyline and harbour views.
• On-site facilities: shops, cafés, restaurants and basic services (toilets, visitor info) around the Peak Tower / Galleria complex.

• All ages; ideal for first-timers, photographers, couples and families who want the “this is Hong Kong” postcard view in one hit.
• The tram and malls are accessible, but there are slopes, escalators and some stairs; the outer walking paths have uneven sections and drop-offs, so not every route suits limited mobility.
• Not ideal if you hate crowds: peak times (evenings, weekends, holidays) get busy, especially around sunset when everyone wants the same shot.

• Take the MTR to Central / Admiralty and walk or bus to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus on Garden Road.
• Buy or scan your combo ticket, then board the Peak Tram for the ~7—8 minute ride up a very steep track through the hillside to the upper station inside Peak Tower.
• Ride escalators up through Peak Tower to Sky Terrace 428, the 360° outdoor deck, and spend time getting city, harbour and island views by day and/or night.
• Wander Peak Tower / Peak Galleria for food, coffee and shops, then, if you have time, follow the easy ~3.5 km paved loop (Lugard / Harlech Road) around the Peak for quieter viewpoints and more natural scenery.
• Ride the tram back down to Garden Road, or return by bus/taxi if you want a different route.

Child (3—11) and senior (65+) pay roughly half of the adult rate on these products.

• Peak Tram tickets: Adult return HK$108, single HK$76.
• Sky Terrace 428 ticket only: Adult admission HK$75.
• Special Combo (Peak Tram return + Sky Terrace 428 single admission): Adult HK$168, which is a realistic “starts from” price for the full Peak experience most visitors choose.
• Hours:
• Peak Tram: generally operates 07:30—23:00 daily, with trams about every 15—20 minutes.
• Sky Terrace 428: typically 10:00—22:00 Mon—Fri and 08:00—22:00 Sat, Sun & public holidays, with last entry about 30 minutes before closing.
• Weather & operations: severe weather (typhoons, black rainstorms, high winds) can affect tram and terrace operations; always check current notices before heading up.
• Once you enter Sky Terrace 428 using your ticket, re-entry is not normally allowed on the same ticket, so time it for when you actually want to stay up there (often just before sunset).

• Location: on Hong Kong Island’s western ridge above Central; the Peak Tram upper station sits inside Peak Tower, with Sky Terrace 428 on its roof and Peak Galleria just across the plaza.
• Elevation & trail: the Peak area tops out around 552 m above sea level, and there’s an easy ~3.5 km paved loop around the hill with multiple view spots if you want something beyond the deck and malls.
• Best timing: late afternoon into evening is the sweet spot — arrive while it’s still light, watch sunset, then stay as the city lights come on. Early morning is quieter if you don’t care about night views.
• Alternatives: you can also reach The Peak by bus or taxi without taking the tram, then buy Sky Terrace tickets on top or just use free viewpoints and trails if you’re on a tight budget.
