Highlights
Standard Night Safari admission ticket for a selected night and time slot, giving access to the park during its evening operating hours.
About this experience
Night Safari in Mandai is billed as the world's first dedicated night zoo — an open-air wildlife park that only really comes alive after dark. Instead of bright daytime exhibits, you move through softly lit forest, ride a tram past nocturnal animals and walk quiet trails where deer, hyenas, lions and other species are active under warm, low lighting.
What's included
- Standard Night Safari admission ticket for a selected night and time slot, giving access to the park during its evening operating hours.
- One round of the guided tram ride around the main Night Safari route, with live or recorded commentary pointing out key animals and habitats as you go.
- Access to multiple walking trails (like Leopard Trail, Fishing Cat Trail, East Lodge, etc. as per current layout) where you explore on foot at your own pace under dim, atmospheric lighting.
- Entry to included creature-of-the-night style presentations or shows (for example, a nocturnal animal presentation in an amphitheatre), subject to the day's schedule and seat availability.
- Use of basic visitor facilities: food court/restaurant areas, toilets, stroller/wheelchair rental counters (rental fees extra), shops and rest areas within the Night Safari compound.
- NOT included: separate tickets for other Mandai parks (Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Bird Paradise), premium experiences, animal feeding sessions, photos sold by in-house photographers, tram priority boarding upgrades, meals and drinks, or transport to and from Mandai.
Who it's for
- Ideal for families, couples and wildlife fans who want a different angle on animals — seeing them when they're naturally more active at night rather than half asleep in mid-day heat.
- Great if you enjoy atmospheric, slightly mysterious environments and are okay walking in low light with jungle sounds and animal calls in the background.
- Suitable for most ages; the tram makes it manageable even if you don't want to walk a lot, though the walking trails are the best part for many visitors.
- Less suitable if you dislike darkness, forest sounds and bats, or if you expect bright daylight-style zoo photography — lighting is intentionally low and flash is restricted.
What you'll do
- Travel up to Mandai in the evening by taxi/Grab, shuttle or public-transport link and enter the Night Safari entrance plaza, separate from the day-time Singapore Zoo gate.
- Scan or buy your Night Safari ticket, then decide whether to start with the tram or grab an early dinner at the on-site food court before your time slot.
- Join the tram queue at your allocated timing, then ride the open-sided tram through different habitat zones — watching animals like deer, antelope, wild cattle, hyenas, lions and more under soft, orangey-white lighting designed not to stress them.
- After the tram, explore one or more walking trails, where you move at your own pace past glass-fronted or open-style habitats, spotting small cats, civets, owls, porcupines, flying squirrels, bats and other nocturnal species.
- Fit in one of the scheduled night shows if you like, where keepers demonstrate natural behaviours and explain the conservation stories behind some of the animals.
- When you are done (usually late evening), exit back through the main plaza via souvenir shops and F&B outlets, then catch your ride back to the city — or cross to nearby Mandai parks if you have other late combos/events.
Before you go
- Tickets / price (starts from): as a realistic planning baseline, standard adult Night Safari tickets are around 55 SGD per person when bought as a regular international visitor ticket, with child and local-resident prices lower and promos/combo deals changing the final amount.
- Duration: plan about 3—4 hours on-site — one tram loop, at least one or two walking trails, a show and food/loo breaks. You want time to walk, not just ride the tram and leave.
- Timing: Night Safari runs after dark only, with fixed entry time slots in the evening and last entry late at night; it is busiest in the early slots right after opening.
- Lighting & photos: light levels are deliberately low; flash photography is not allowed as it disturbs the animals. Be prepared for grainy/low-light photos and focus more on the experience than perfect shots.
- Comfort & safety: wear light, breathable clothes and comfortable walking shoes — it is still warm and humid even at night. Use insect repellent if you are sensitive to bites, and stay on marked paths, obeying all barriers and staff instructions.
Good to know
- Location: Night Safari is part of the Mandai wildlife cluster in northern Singapore, next to Singapore Zoo and River Wonders; many visitors pair a day park (Zoo/River Wonders) with a dinner break and then Night Safari.
- Best timing: slightly later slots can be less crowded on some nights, but animals are generally active throughout the evening; booking your preferred tram time in advance is highly recommended on weekends and holidays.
- Accessibility: main paths and tram boarding are stroller and wheelchair friendly; some side trails have gentle slopes but remain manageable for most visitors with normal mobility.
- Food & drink: there are multiple food options near the entrance (local dishes, fast food, snacks) — most people eat here just before or in between tram/trail segments; outside food is limited.
- Kids & noise: children usually love the novelty, but keep them close — it is dark, and loud shouting or shining lights at animals is discouraged; teach them basic “night zoo manners” before you go.
Why this is worth it
Budget around 55 SGD per adult and 3—4 hours for Night Safari — Mandai's nocturnal wildlife park where you ride an open-sided tram and walk dim forest trails to see animals active under soft lights, trading bright, easy photos for a more natural, after-dark jungle zoo vibe.
