About this experience
Kyoto’s iconic Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that snake up Mount Inari. A blend of shrine complex, forest walk and viewpoint. Plan 1—2 hours for the lower sections; 2—3 hours if you hike the full loop.

What you'll do
- Arrive at JR Inari Station or nearby local stations and walk to the main entrance.
- Pass under the main torii and through the Romon gate.
- Walk the famous “thousand torii” tunnel and, if you wish, continue up to viewpoints and small sub-shrines.
Before you go
- Entry: free, donations optional.
- Open 24 hours; evenings are atmospheric but less serviced and lit than daytime.

- Location: Fushimi Ward, southern Kyoto.
- Early mornings offer the best mix of cool weather and lower crowds.
