The Transfăgărășan (DN7C) is Romania’s most famous mountain drive — the iconic hairpin road crossing the Făgăraș Mountains, with big alpine scenery and classic stops around the Bâlea area when conditions allow. It’s a public road (no attraction entry ticket), but the alpine section closes seasonally for winter safety and can also be temporarily restricted for weather.

• When reopened (official example): upon reopening, traffic may be allowed only during daytime (07:00—21:00), and the road can be temporarily closed again if weather becomes unsafe.
